That was micron pen and colored in photoshop. I am looking for my mother. I come to a gnarled tree, brighter grey than the rest and a faded white house nestled in its branches. I can pull the house closer to me by tugging on a string too thin to be capable of such things hanging from its weathered front door. The tree bends like springy wire and I climb inside. The walls are dried and peeling; the furniture is scratched, old and tattered. This house is rarely visited. Here I discover the memories of my mother’s life before me, what her life might have been without me, and things that happened when I was only a baby. Some are packed carefully away in broken hutches while others were left carelessly about like discarded junk mail.<span> </span></p> <p class="MsoNormal">I have only just begun to sift through them as the house starts to sway. It is not by wind or burden but deliberate and rhythmic like a warning. My mother is coming. She cannot find me in here. I shift my weight to dip the house towards the ground and when I leave, it stays bent towards me in mourning. The woods go dark and I worry about that house. Will it be safe? Will anyone else find it? Should I have told my mother or kept it a secret? I wake up not knowing what happened but I miss how I felt in that house.
